Over the past decade, Vietnam’s electronics, computer, and components industry has emerged as one of the most important pillars of the national economy, playing a leading role in exports, investment attraction, and deep integration into the global value chain. According to data from the General Statistics Office (Ministry of Finance), in the first nine months of 2025 alone, export turnover of electronics, computers, and components exceeded USD 77 billion, and is expected to surpass USD 100 billion for the full year—ranking first among Vietnam’s key export categories. Meanwhile, import turnover of this sector also exceeded USD 110 billion, marking a historic high.

During the 2016–2024 period, total import-export turnover of electronics, computers, and components more than tripled, with an average annual growth rate of 18.6%—nearly double the overall national trade growth rate. This strong momentum has been driven largely by significant FDI inflows from leading global electronics corporations such as Samsung, LG, Intel, Foxconn, Canon, and Goertek, positioning Vietnam as a major electronics manufacturing and assembly hub in Southeast Asia. At the same time, domestic enterprises including Viettel, Bkav, FPT, and Vingroup have increasingly participated in the design and production of smart devices and high-tech components, contributing to higher localization rates and stronger supporting industry capabilities.

These figures clearly reflect the rapid expansion of Vietnam’s electronics industry, while also highlighting the substantial demand for components, materials, and manufacturing equipment—most of which still rely heavily on external supply sources.
