As the main technological trend of the 4.0 industrial revolution, robotics, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, etc. are transforming every industry in every country. The world economic map is being redrawn with the increasing strength of countries that rely mainly on technology and innovation. Vietnam has many advantages for development.
Recently, the Central Economic Committee in coordination with the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Information and Communications and many other agencies organized the regional-scale technology event "Smart Industry World 2017" held for the first time in Vietnam with the theme "Shaping and developing smart industrial production in the future".
The event was held with the aim of creating a forum to help Party advisory agencies, State management agencies, researchers, experts and the business community discuss orientations and solutions to attract investment and develop smart industry in Vietnam in the context of the strong development of the 4.0 industrial revolution (CMCN 4.0).
At the same time, the event also created opportunities for Vietnamese businesses and technology-loving communities to access and visit smart technology practices from leading prestigious partners in the US, Europe, Japan, Israel, Korea, etc. Through that, Vietnamese businesses also have the opportunity to introduce smart industrial products and solutions to the community and find potential partners and investors.
According to an assessment by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the current status of CMCN 4.0 implementation in Vietnam has created a relatively optimistic foundation to adapt to the world wave. Vietnam is considered a potential market for industrial robots (ranked 10th in the top industrial automation markets). However, Vietnam's Industry 4.0 has a modest starting point, uneven development, and its technology level has not basically caught up with that of advanced countries.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and a delegation of senior leaders visited the booths in the exhibition area and spoke at the workshop: "The newly issued Directive 16 has many important solutions on developing IT infrastructure; prioritizing the development of digital technology industry, smart agriculture, smart tourism, smart cities; promoting the innovative startup ecosystem; reforming education and vocational training, training human resources capable of receiving new production technology trends. On behalf of the Government, I commend and highly appreciate the efforts and achievements of all levels, sectors and the business community in seizing the opportunities of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution, making practical contributions to the development of smart industry in Vietnam”.
In addition, in the reporting conference, Mr. Huynh Quang Liem - Deputy General Director of VNPT Group shared VNPT's perspectives on the digital transformation trend, VNPT's preparations to take the lead in the 4.0 Industrial Revolution. Previously, VNPT had cooperated with the People's Committee of Kien Giang province to complete projects in phase 1 of the project "Smart city on e-government, smart tourism, safe city combined with camera systems, water and air environment monitoring, health management, smart wifi and online accommodation management".
